Pulse Clash

In this two-player game, created by Ana Souto Neves & Rahim Tooranian, experience is controlled by the other’s heartbeat, exploring how the present moment is shaped.

Outline

Pulse Clash explores how our sense of the present moment is shaped by both our own bodies and other people. Audiences encounter a two-player arcade installation. Each participant’s heartbeat is made visible through an algorithm that controls the other player’s game pace via lights, sound, and heart-rate sensors. Drawing on research into perception, time, and embodied cognition, the artwork questions agency, co-regulation, and the elasticity of time through a playful yet reflective experience.
