Crossing Parallels

Art, science and technology are parallel fields that share many similarities. All show forms of research into the unknown and contribute to the development of new visions. Social, cultural, economic and, above all, ethical issues are becoming more and more complex and are increasingly intertwined with one another and with technology and scientific discoveries. Cross-disciplinary collaborations and creativity is needed to deal with this complexity. With a strong belief in the importance of sharing knowledge between different scientific domains and the art world, Crossing Parallels is a platform where artists, researchers and students engage in a multi-directional exchange, integrating their creativity and fresh perspectives with scientific methods and educational formats. The exchange between these two worlds shapes a valuable reflection on today's technological developments and serves as a basis for inspiration flowing both ways.

Crossing Parallels was founded as an artist in residency programme by TodaysArt and TU Delft | Science Centre. Since 2017 it organized and produced several dozen artist-in-residencies including different courses and research groups, co-produced several exhibitions and festivals and organized workshops and hackathons.
Several artists that have been part of the programme include Iris van Herpen, Mike Rijnierse, Sujata Mujamdar, Philip Beesley, Gabey Tjon-a-Tham, Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand, Teresa van Dongen, Hrvoje Hirsl, Gabriela Prochazka, Tivon Rice, Rocio Berenguer, Mette Sterre, Louis Braddock Clarke, Katarina Petrovic and Lilian Kreutzberger.
